Being drained, have a lack of energy or even having chronic fatigue can unfortunately come with having endometriosis and pelvic pain. You feel drained, don´t have any energy to do anything you just want to stay in bed sleeping. Know the feeling? A cup of coffee can do the trick for you, but as I try not to encourage you to drink coffee there are other things to try. In this post and the next you´ll have some advice what you can do to get out of that lack of energy.
It can take some energy having an illness with pain, and of course other things in your life can also be a cause for taking your energy instead of giving you positive energy. What I have learned is that it is possible to get it back, and as many things in your life, things are connected, it´s not only one thing that can be the cause. In this part I want to give you some things you can try to get your energy back.
Keep your routines
Well, if you´ve been following me for a while, this is not the first time I mention this. Having a continuing daily routine that you follow will help you to come in a better balance when it comes to your energy during the day. Going up the same time every morning (6am) and going to bed (10pm) is the best. Have you ever overslept and felt terribly heavy and tired? I think we all have. It´s our natural clock telling us that it´s not the right thing to do. I admit this is one of the hardest things for me, even though I do know that keeping my daily routines are so important feeling in good balance during the day.
Do things that give you positive energy
It is not always you can do things you love in life. We have our commitments, jobs, family, bills etc. But when it comes to things that you can choose, try this out: Do things that give you a positive feeling, a feeling of joy and buzzing excitement. For example, if you meet a friend and that person only drain you every time, maybe you should question that relationship and do something about it. Or maybe you know that walking in the nature gives you good energy, do it more often. Write a list what gives you energy and what drains you and see if you can do things that give you energy more often.
Clean up your diet
Eating a bad diet can actually drain you. Eating heavy food and too much sugar can make you tired. Yes sugar gives you energy first, but often you end up dead tired when the sugar blues shows up.
Try to eat more:
Move your body
Moving your body and exercise helps you to be less tired. Do something you like, running, dancing, work out, walking, yoga. Just move, it doesn´t matter as long as you like it. (Remember do things you like!) When you move your happy-hormones endorphins are released so you´ll feel happier at the same time!
Next week I´ll give you a great yoga exercise you can do to keep your energy up!
Are you contracting your muscles in the pelvic region?
Contracting the muscles will tighten the area and it will be more difficult for a good blood circulation. And we need that to have a good function in the body and the organs. Contracting the muscles will also send a signal to the fight and flight system (sympathetic nervous system) that it´s time to be alert instead of relaxed. So there are many reasons for you to see if you are contracting the muscles in your pelvic region. It can be a cause for some of your problems and relaxing more can help you with pain. I´d like you to try to give your body some attention during the day and feel if you are tense or not.
Here are some things you can try:

I remember years ago when I realized this, that my lower parts had become my worst enemy, I tried to send it love instead and visualized a beautiful rose where the pain was. The pain disappeared, can you imagine! Maybe it sounds weird, but it actually worked for me as long as a focused. Be creative and try to make friend with your pelvis, how weird it sounds, it can be the best thing you can do. Send some love!
I think one of the hardest things to do for us is to change our habits. New Year is coming up, and many of us have New Year´s Resolutions we really want to keep and succeed with. It´s nothing wrong with our goals or purposes, but there is something within us that makes it difficult to keep our habits. Here are some advice for you!
I don´t know about you, but I find it hard to really change my bad habits sometimes. And sometimes I have succeeded very well. In this blog post I want to share my advice what you can do and think about, keeping your resolutions and change the things you want to change. And keep the habits, of course. Working with things that is about habits and lifestyle-changes need some strategies, so keep reading if this is the year for some changes in your life. Because it is possible making a change!
Why is it so hard to change the habits?
Maybe you think yourself as a failure not being able to change your habits and keep them, but this is not true, it´s all biologically as many things that we are struggling with. I always go back to the evolution when I ask myself the question why we act and behave as we do. And most of the time the answer is that we needed it in the old times for a reason and survival. What happens when we get a habit is that the routine is giving us a reward. The routine or the act gives us a reward and having a reward-feeling is releasing endorphins and we like that as humans, to feel good. Actually our brain is craving that. Even though maybe the habit is bad, let´s say eating a lot of sweets, there is a reason why we eat it, and it gives us a satisfaction, maybe energy, filling an empty space in our lives or something else, it doesn´t matter, the reward is something that will increase the “feel good-feeling”.
What you can do to change your habits and keep them
There is some good news when it comes to changing habits and that is that it is possible and doable! You just need the tools and know the secret to succeed.
So you see, it is possible to change your habits into good ones. You just need to make up your mind and make a plan that suits you the best!
I wish you a fantastic New Year! It´s going to be good one!
There are so many things you can do to balance your life. To lower your stress, balance your hormones and connect to your true inner self. Not always are these tools what you thought they would be. But I tell you, if you like oil and massage this is the tool for you!
I came in contact with ayurveda the first time, when I went to India for a deep ayurveda cleansing. This was almost 6 years ago. It was a 6 week panchakarma and that was one deep treatment. The first weeks were pretty tough, physically and emotionally but I really felt the result it gave me after those 6 weeks. So been through an ayurvedic treatment and noticing the result, that gave me some respect to the old Indian treatment tradition.
One thing I have incorporated in my daily life is the Abyhanga – Warm Oil Self-massage. When you cover the skin with warm oil, your nervous system calms down. When the nervous system is calmer, the release of stress hormones will reduce. The stress hormones being reduced will help you to balance your other hormones as well. So to do things that will reduce your stress can have a big effect on your hormone balance over all. You can read more about that in this blog post.
Self massage is also a way to connect to your body. Massaging your skin and your whole body is a beautiful way to give yourself some self love.
Which oil to use
I recommend to using a good quality oil. The oil should be organic and edible. You should not use things on your skin that you can´t eat, right? You can buy a ayrvedic oil that is suited for your dosha (constitution) if you want or you can use untoasted sesame oil. I use herbal oil from Maharishi Ayurveda and mix it with sesame oil. To find out your dosha there are many tests out there, here is one you can try.
Warm the oil to body temperature. You can pour the oil in a small can and warm it in a water bath on the stove. I know many just have the oil in a plastic bottle and warm it in warm water, but I prefer not to have the oil in a plastic bottles, because of release of toxins from the plastic.
You need some towels, a towel on the floor, a towel to sit on and a towel to use after the shower. Use towels that are not so precious to you, over time they will be affected by the oil, even though you wash them.
How to do self-massage
Take a shower and use only soap on body parts you really need. To remove the oil from your hair you just use ordinary shampoo.
Remember to rinse your shower or tub with warm water to get rid of the oil.
If you don´t have enough time for massaging the whole body you can skip some parts and only massage a smaller part of your body like ears, neck, chest and feet.
I truly recommend you to try this massage, it´s so calming and has such a calming effect that stay for the rest of the day. Give this massage some time and give your slef that self love!

Sufi grind, it can also have other names, like spinal rotation, is a yoga pose that affect your lower chakras (the yogic energy system). It has a calming effect since it affect the adrenals from a yogic perspective in the MediYoga tradition. It also gives your hips and lower spine/back a nice massage and I find it a very meditative exercise. What it is most well known for is the effect on the digestion. Digestion is so important for our health and having a bad digestion can have a huge impact and make life more difficult than it should be.
If you have problems with constipation you can do the Sufi Grind longer. Doing it as long as 10-15 minutes each direction is no problem, just listen to what your body needs. Try to do the pose every day for at least one month to have really good results. As many things in yoga it is about repetition to create a new habit and noticing the best benefits from the practice.
Another version of the Sufi Grind is to inhale deeply and while holding the breath in, start to do the Sufi grind in one direction as long as you can hold the breath in. When you need to exhale, you exhale and inhale again, hold the breath and rotate in the other direction. Continue a couple of laps.
Please watch the video for more instructions on how to do the Sufi Grind.
I´d love to hear from you! Have you tried it? Does it work for you?
