I did a survey six months ago among my offline yoga students. I asked them what physical problems troubled them the most. Most of them had problems with their back, so when the courses started in September I had a yoga course for back problems. It filled up immediately.
Maybe the reason for so many having back problems is that we don´t move enough, exercising, walking or in another way move our body. Our job is more sitting still than it used to be. Lot of us is sitting in front of a screen all day long.
So today I want to give a quick health tip for you out there, that sits in front of the computer, having back and shoulder pain.
These yoga poses you can do on a chair. If you sit on a chair, sit in the front of the chair with your feet straight under your knees with your spine straight.
Sit in Easy Pose with your legs crossed. Take hold of your outside ankles with both hands. (If you prefer sitting on a chair place your hands flat, palms facing down on your thighs.) Inhale as you flex your spine forward and lift your chest up, arching your back forward. Exhale as you flex your spine backward and tilt your pelvis back. Keep your head and chin level while keeping your neck still. Continue this movement 1-3 minutes. Relax and rest for a couple of minutes.
Good for the lower back, opens up the ribcage and is also good for the breathing.
Sit in easy pose. Lift your both shoulders straight up. As you inhale start to roll your shoulders back and down. As you come down exhale roll them up and forward. Continue at a slow pace in big circles. Continue for 1- 3 minutes. End with an inhale as you lift the shoulders and hold for 15 seconds. Exhale and relax.
Relaxes the shoulders.

Another great tip is to only sit for 20 minutes at a time. After 20 minutes stand up, walk a little bit and get a glass of water (it´s so easy to forget drinking water during the day) or whatever you need to do.

This yoga pose is good to do if you feel affected by other peoples negative energy, and also if you sit in front of the computer alot. It is believed that screens affect your aura in a negative way, so taking a break every now and then and do this exercise can help your aura from getting drained.
This is how you do:
Sit in easy pose or rock pose with your spine erect. Close your eyes.
Drop your elbows, hold your forearms out. Cup your palms slightly. Inhale and draw the elbows back by the sides of the rib cage.
Exhale and swing the arms across the chest.
Inhale again and draw the elbows back by the sides of the rib cage.
Exhale and swing the arms up and back over the head.
Repeat with a powerful breath and powerful motion for 1 -2 minutes.
Inhale, draw the elbows back. Stretch the chest forward. Hold 10 seconds. Relax.

Many of us get affected by people around us. It is like their emothions become our own. It is nothing wrong with you. You are probabaly sensitive. But we can make you less affected. Strengthen you a bit. Countinue reading.
In the yogic tradition being sensitive and overwhelmed by people or environment around you is connected to the aura. The aura is the electromagnetic field that all living has around its physical body. It can expand around your body all from 25 cm or more up to 2,5 m (1 inch to 8 ft) or even more. This field acts as a protection or filter that filters through all good energy and filters out bad energy and negativity. The negativity doesn´t come in to your being. It stayes outside of you. Imagine a glass cup around you and as any negativity come towards you, it just runs down the glass cup, like an egg running down the glass walls.
It is important to have a strong aura not to get affected by people around you or other environment that can cause negative energy. You can strengthen the aura in some ways with yogic techniques and some of those techniques I want to share with you here today and in my next blog post. You don´t have to suffer from taking in others energy so much, if you know of these techniques.
1. Take cold showers
In the yogic tradition it is good to take cold showers – ishnaan – hydrotherapy. This cold shower helps, not only to strengthen the aura, it also helps your blood circulation and opens the capillaries and helps the blood to flush through your organs, so they get refreshed.
This is how you do it:
If you want to you can massage your whole body with a nice oil, like almond oil or other oil you prefer before the shower. Step into the shower and shower with cold water all over your body. Let the water run all over except the head for a while. Soon you´ll feel the body is getting warm and then it´s time to stop. Dry yourself with a nice bath towel.
This hydrotherapy is good to do in the morning. You avoid it when you have your period.
I must admit this is one of the few yogic techniques I resist, but when I do it I feel very refreshed.
You can also splash some cold water over your wrists and neck (under the ears) that also helps to strengthen your aura. This is very good during the day, especially if you sit in front of the computer a lot. The radiation from electronic equipment affects your aura in a negative way.
2. Wear white clothes
Maybe you´ve seen that many yogic wear white clothes and even cover their head? White clothes strengthens the aura, so if you feel a little bit to affected by people or maybe low or depressed you can try to wear white clothes that day. When I teach yoga live I always do that as I meet a lot of people in my classes. You can also wear some on your head, like a scarf, a turban or a hat. The aura is more sensitive around your head.
3. Do yoga for the aura
There are many yoga poses, whole yoga sets and meditations that help to strengthen your aura. When I know I´m going to a difficult meeting I do I yoga set for the aura and it helps a lot. Often when you do these kind of yoga poses you feel very refreshed and energetic after.
